Five Short Years Ago

From Wikimedia Commons

Between 1 and 2 million people marched on the streets of London on 15 February 2003.  3 million in Rome.  Conservative estimates say 10 million took to the streets in 300 cities around the world.

Five years later, and the British public has not been motivated like this since.  Your thoughts in the comments section,  please.

Update: Well, would you look at that?

I was in Gloucestershire that day. Sad to have missed it.

I am curious as to why the world has not seen similar since 2003. There has been more than enough to protest about - Sudan, Kenya, Gordon Brown becoming PM… Why don’t people protest any more?

Maybe they just lack a sprightly, good-looking leader ;)

  2. R.E. Vamp says:

Why would you protest about Brown coming to power?

  3. R.E. Vamp says:

    I wasn’t actually there.

I was 12 at the time, in my defence, and was wary of going there alone. Ironically enough I feared violence being performed upon me at an anti-war affair. Rather foolish, in hindsight.

    A true pity.
