To be fair, this was the one area of policy I had no illusions or hopes of Obama being any different. I still supported him as far as I could for all the other good reasons; this just wasn’t one of them. Axelrod and Obama are clever guys: quite possibly Axelrod knows what he is saying is effectively guff but from an American point of view, its realpolitik. Israel is America’s most important ally in the region, and that won’t change unless Obama does something he hasn’t promised, which is unlikely as he will be far too busy doing what he has actually promised to do.
