Brown Caves III

With regards to Ali’s previous post I find myself rather “incredulous” as well. How he can claim that he

little [Brown] has done has been more stubborn.

and also deem him a “ditherer” is beyond me.

I also fail to see how allowing to continue a vote that would have most likely been lost and thus most likely destroyed the government could possibly be a less damaging course of action than brokering an agreement with the left that they were content enough with not to continue in their proposed action of defeating the government and thus demonstrating Brown’s inability to pursue the policy he promises to.

  1. Oh my goodness, you’ve been taken in!

He did not “broker a deal with the Left” - he splattered words like “compensation” and “resolution” around, claiming all was well with the world. Sorry to burst the bubble there, but this is not brokering. “The Left”, as you put it, are not very happy with the Dear Leader who has, essentially, passed the bill on to employers. He has decieved even in a climbdown that is increasingly being seen as less of a U-turn and more of a drunken swerve.

  2. By “Broker a deal with the Left” I mean that there isn’t going to be a rebellion which sees him ousted. They may not be happy but they are not going to be voting against the government, either. And there is no shame in climbing down from the gallows.

Sorry to burst the bubble here but the cocktail of cynicism and over-exposure to Tory blogs seems to have distorted your vision yet again.
